Operation Marne Torch

More than 2,500 coalition and Iraqi army forces participated in Marne Torch, an operation named for the historic British-American invasion of French North Africa in World War II that took place in 1942. Members of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, cleared the area north of the Arab Jabour area and restricted movement of insurgents and bomb-making material into the area.

Operation:

The Operation, lasting nearly 2 months netted over 275 detained insurgents/terrorists (al-qaeda/insurgents) and killed 88. "Operation Marne Torch" consisted of raids, patrols and clearing operations to clear terrorist sanctuaries.

The result of the Operation was successful US raids and disruption of insurgent supply lines.
